6 Things to Do in Évora

6-things-to-do-in-Evora-Alentejo

I'll give you some clues about 6 things to do in Evora, one of the cities that shape the Portuguese Alentejo, not in vain it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a city-museum, with a beauty that accompanies you through its several styles streets: Roman, Neoclassical, Gothic, Manueline, Renaissance and Baroque. No age that has wanted to miss the chance to capture its footprint in History. I recommend you don't miss its Roman temple, the Cathedral of Santa Maria, wine tasting at Rota Dos Vinhos do Alentejo, stroll through its streets to admire its churches and corners, lunch or dinner in the Restaurant Dom Joaquim, and an appointment with fashion at the atelier of Capote's Emotion. Follow my social networks at Klout, and don't miss any of my updates!

Although the streets of Évora are of Roman origin, its stones have been stepped by Celts, Arabs, Jews, Christians and even kings, since the fifteenth century it became the residence of the kings of Portugal. It's a pleasure to wander through and stop them from time to time to see its monumental buildings, some of them clearly Brazilian architectural influence.

Miguel Bombarda street n.16, lovers of style and fashion have an appointment with tradition and modernity. The atelier of Capotes.pt formed by entrepreneurs Delfina Marques and Florbela Nunes oozes Portuguese culture and lifestyle. The Alentejo Capote is the star piece of their winter collections, which includes a tandem of innovation and tradition with local materials preserving the 'soul' of the garment, taking it to cross borders. Through its web they sell not only to national customers but an international public, attracted by the comfortable but elegant than it was a male garment, worn by women now, without losing the essence of its design. I loved the idea and now my Nancy doll wears one of their designs.

And to recharge after a busy day, traditional Portuguese food from Alentejo, there is no better place in Evora that Dom Joaquim Restaurant in the center of the city, Penedos Street n. 6, it has won numerous awards for its excellent cuisine. I recommend you asking the "invisible wine" Ervideira to accompany your dishes and leave you surprised by a white wine made from red grapes. Brilliant and original, isn't it?

Another essential place in Évora is the Rota Dos Vinhos Do Alentejo. A palace of wine in which you'll immerse squarely in the wine culture of the area. But I'll tell you about that experience in the next post...
