Un día en el MOMA NYC

MOMA-New-York-City

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA): Prepare to spend a day! I already told you in my travel post: 7 free things you can do in NYC that on Fridays afternoon (from 4pm to 8pm) entrance is free for everyone. What I like most about the Museum of Modern Art is that has works by authors I have not seen in any other museum (or few) such as the paintings by Florine Stettheimer, a painter and American poet who created, along with her sisters, a space for the Modernists in Manhattan that was joined by Marcel Duchamp, Henry McBride and Georgia O'Keeffe, among others. The pop art of the American artist Andy Warhol also has wide protagonism in the MOMA. There is his serigraphic work Campbell's Soup Cans that you will see later in this post.

Other authors that I love and their works are there

  • Kandinsky, the Russian painter and art theorist who taught at the Bauhaus School of Art and Architecture from 1922 until the Nazis closed it in 1933.
  • Cézanne, the bridge between late 19th century Impressionism and 20th Century Cubism. "The father of us all," Matisse and Picasso said of him. The works of both artists (which I love as well) also are in the MOMA.
  • Gauguin the French post-impressionist artist who was underestimated until after his death. His work was influential for the French avant-garde and modern artists, such as Picasso and Matisse.
In addition, the building itself is a joy, with exterior views from any of its floors and spacious rooms where works of art do not bother each other. It is as if they have a space of their own in which they inhabit without diminishing protagonism to each other. Have you ever been in the MOMA? What do you like about the modern Museum?
