Chester, más que una marca de tabaco

Vaya una ciudad preciosa. A pesar de que perdí mi cardigan gris de Zara y la dirección del River Island de Manchester, la ciudad de origen romano me ha dejado un recuerdo con sabor a Normandía Francesa -I mean St. Maló (Francia)- pero también a Cardiff (Gales) y Ávila (Spain).

Liverpool mucho más que los Beatles

No es por quitarles protagonismo pero es que tanto nombrar a The Beatles y se obvia la riqueza cultural que hizo que esta ciudad fuera Capital Europea de la Cultura en 2008.

Manchester y los Prada del Outlet

Dejando atrás el calor asfixiante de Sevilla, llegamos a la ciudad de The Smiths y The Stone Roses. A dos días del partido amistoso entre el Manchester United y el Valencia F.C. y a menos de 500 metros de nuestro Etap Hotel. Tras pasar por un Tesco para rellenar la nevera y en medio del sobresalto que supone adaptarte física y mentalmente a conducir por la izquierda. Así que nos fuimos hacia los viejos muelles de Salford Quays, renovados en los 90 tras la devastación provocada por un coche bomba del IRA que obligó a la reurbanización de las principales zonas comerciales y sirvió de pretexto para seguir mejorando otras áreas de la city. De este modo, los muelles se convirtieron en canales conectados por puentes de breve recorrido con edificios de arquitectura moderna en sus orillas. Como el del Imperial War Museum North o el Lowry Centre –complejo de artes y entretenimiento-. La ciudad en sí no es que sea espectacular –para nosotros poco más que el dormitorio de la primera parte del viaje- excepto por lo citado anteriormente y por su ayuntamiento neogótico pero surprise! Enfrente del Lowry Center hay un Outlet Mall donde descubrí una shop con zapatos de Prada, Miu Miu, Dolce&Gabbana o Gucci, desde 90 libras ¿caerá alguno? We will see…

Lenny Kravitz joins Dom Pérignon in St. Tropez

 

This month, in keeping with this tradition the International Rock Musician, Lenny Kravitz signed Magnums of Dom Pérignon Rosé to celebrate his relationship with Dom Pérignon. The magnums will be sold to benefit his charity of choice. As the summer hub for the Who's Who of Hollywood and the International Jet Set, this time the sunset of St. Tropez served as the perfect backdrop to celebrate the radiance of both the wine and the essence of creation.

I´m on holidays -miss me please!

Mientras veis este post yo estaré viajando por Inglaterra. Es tan fácil preparar las entradas del blog y disponer el día que quieres que salga publicada... No quería retirarme de aquí dos semanas. Desaparecer sin más. Así, de algún modo sigo aquí aunque sea virtualmente.

Londoners Through a Lens

Following the success of "London Through a Lens" this new comeback show focuses on the people of London, from the film stars to the flower sellers.

"Londoners Through a Lens", that opens on Friday 14th August at the Getty Images Gallery, takes another look at the capital, but this time with the emphasis on its inhabitants, from the famous figures to the everyday people. Time Out Guides will once again be publishing a book to accompany the exhibition, which will go on sale 3rd September 2009.

The exhibition features a wide-ranging and multifaceted selection of photos from the past century, including a selection of rare images. All of the images in the collection were chosen from the Getty Images Hulton Archive and range from 1900-1990.

These stirring shots capture the spirit, personality and ever-evolving style of London's residents over the course of 90 years.
